that the sale of the child had taken place

three years previously, when the girl was

seven years old, and that the price paid

was $95 Canton currency. There was no

evidence that such a transaction had taken

place in this Colony, and the specific

mention of Canton currency makes it almost

certain that this was not the case. No

action was therefore taken against the

alleged purchaser at the time of the

voluntary restoration of the girl to her

mother.
